The head of NAATO, Jens Stoltenberg declared to CNN that he will leave the post of Secretary General of NATO in October 2024.
He was set to step down this year, but with the war in Ukraine, the alliance extended his term by another 12 months.
Asked if this year is indeed his last extension, the former Norwegian prime minister said: “Yes, this is my last extension.
" It is a privilege to serve as the secretary general of NATO and it is extremely meaningful, especially now, when there is an all-out war in Europe. We need Europe and North America to stand together and being secretary general to help make that happen has been a great privilege indeed, " he said.
We remember that countries like France, Germany, Great Britain and the USA are trying to place their "man" at the head of the Alliance, this has started a 'cold war' between the member countries.
