The French president's statements come at a time when tensions in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine continue to remain at the center of international concerns.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that he does not consider the conflict between the United States and Iran to be completely over, despite the agreement signed the day before in Versailles.
In an interview with France 2, Macron said that "it is always better to have an agreement than a war," but stressed that there is still the possibility of the situation escalating.
According to him, the world is entering a "new phase of cooperation and dialogue," which could help stabilize the Middle East and ensure safer passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that recent developments could also affect the gradual reduction of fuel prices.
Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, Macron urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to act with "responsibility and rationality," arguing that a prolonged military operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon does not serve Israel's interests.
"Hezbollah is a danger to Israel, that is absolutely true, but the security of the Jewish state cannot be guaranteed by occupying neighboring territory," the French president declared.
Macron said he will continue efforts to engage the international community in support of the Lebanese army, with the aim of it regaining control over the country's territory.
According to him, Netanyahu is "increasing the sense of discontent and violence in the region" through actions in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.
The French president also spoke about the war in Ukraine, praising the resistance of Ukrainian forces against Russia. He highlighted the "extraordinary courage" of the Ukrainian military and its ability to develop and use drones on the battlefield.
"Ukraine resists with courage, innovative capacity and military production capacity that has amazed everyone from day one," Macron said.
