The United States Department of State announced the temporary suspension of operations of the US embassy in Kuwait, at a time when tensions in the Middle East remain high.
US authorities stressed that there were no reports of injuries among US diplomats or embassy staff. However, Washington stressed that the safety of US citizens abroad remains a top priority.
Meanwhile, the travel advisory for Kuwait remains at Level 3 – “Reconsider Travel,” according to the State Department’s classification. U.S. citizens are advised to follow the latest information on the situation on the official website travel.state.gov.
US authorities have also called on American citizens currently in Kuwait to leave the country if possible and safely, using commercial flights or other means of transportation.
Those unable to leave are advised to remain in safe places until further notice from the authorities.
