Ship sinks in Turkish waters, reported dead

A boat with migrants sank this morning in the northeast of Lesvos.

The sinking of the ship, according to ERT, occurred within Turkish territorial waters. The Turkish authorities were called for rescue, but did not respond.

The coast guard was mobilized to sink the ship, which saved 23 people.

Four immigrants unfortunately lost their lives.

All the rescued have been transferred to Mytilin.
