Rescue teams searching for six people missing after a yacht capsized off the coast of Sicily have used remote-controlled electronics in their operations.
The missing passengers are believed to be trapped in the belly of the Bayesian, a British-flagged superyacht.
The ship is located at a depth of 50 meters, 10 meters deeper than certified divers can dive. As a result, each diver can stay underwater for no more than 12 minutes.
Italian emergency services said its rescuers managed to gain access inside the vessel but were hampered by narrow spaces and displaced vehicles.
Civil defense officials believe the water conditions may have led to a water vortex, similar to a tornado passing over water, due to the sudden storm.
15 people survived and one body was found dead near the wreckage of the yacht. The victim is chef Recaldo Thomas.
Meanwhile, among the missing are the British technology boss, Mike Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter, as well as the head of "Morgan Stanley", Jonathan Bloomer.
