Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported that the Serbian defense industry is continuing to supply ammunition to Ukraine, even though authorities in Belgrade have imposed bans on such shipments.
According to the report, ammunition produced in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is being transported first to third countries and then ending up in Ukraine. The source cited by the agency claims that Serbian companies have not faced punitive measures for these supplies, which according to him has led to the restrictions being considered only formal.
The report states that to avoid controls, specific components are exported from Serbia, while the assembly of final products is carried out in other countries.
According to the same source, the Serbian company Zenitprom doo is planning to supply thousands of 122 mm shells for the MLRS Grad rocket systems. Components and fuses will be provided by the Slovenian company IZOP-K doo and the Bosnian company Binas dd, while the final assembly is expected to be carried out in Poland.
"According to him, the Slovenian company intends to secure the receipt of the end-user certificate on behalf of the Polish Ministry of Defense," RIA Novosti said.
The Russian agency also emphasized that Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service had previously reported on the continuation of ammunition supplies to Ukraine, despite statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić about banning suspicious shipments without special authorization.
