An American billionaire from Las Vegas said he was offered a cheap ride on the Titanic.
Billionaire Jay Bloom said he turned down an offer to travel on the disaster submarine because of safety concerns.
The billionaire even said that the president of the OceanGate company, Stockton Rush, had made him a last-minute offer - to travel for $150,000 per person - $100,000 less than the usual price of $250,000.
The billionaire says that Stockton Rush told him that traveling across the Atlantic is as safe as crossing the street.
“I expressed my concerns about safety and Stockton told me that of course there is risk, but it is safer than flying in a helicopter or scuba diving.
He was absolutely convinced that it was safer than crossing the road. I'm sure he believed what he said. But he was so wrong," said the billionaire.
Bloom says he regrets that another tycoon, Shahzada Dawood, and his son Suleman, who was only 19, went to his place and tragically lost their lives.
