A Ukrainian official has revealed the horrors faced by Russian soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine. She said soldiers who refuse to fight are put in a pit and forcibly kept there without food, leaving them to starve.
About 50 servicemen were fed "small food rations" once a day by Russian police near Pokrovske, in the Zaporizhzhia region, said Hanna Maliar, deputy defense minister.
She painted a similarly bleak picture of life for Russian soldiers in Donetsk.
" The supply of dry rations received by the mobilized has practically ended, no other food supply is offered to them until they reach the combat units ," she said.
Mistreatment of Russian soldiers on the battlefield by their leaders has been reported since the beginning of the war. Previously, deserters were tortured by the soldiers of the Wagner group, which has now been disbanded.
