The handshake between Donald Trump and Brigitte Macron, at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, has gone viral in recent hours...
The handshake between US President Donald Trump and French First Lady Brigitte Macron lasted a full 13 seconds during the G7 summit in Evian, France.
This unusual handshake occurred as French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte were hosting the leaders of the G7 countries. International media recalled that Trump and Macron have a long history of strong and longer-than-usual handshakes. However, this is the first time the American president has had such a handshake with Brigitte Macron.
The awkward moment between President Donald Trump and Brigitte Macron at the G7 summit has gone viral after a lip-reading expert claimed to have deciphered what the US president said during the unusual interaction. Nicola Hickling attempted to decipher the words they exchanged on camera, speaking to the Daily Mail.
According to her, Trump initially told Emmanuel Macron: "I'm ready for tonight," before turning to Brigitte Macron. Hickling claims that the US president greeted the French First Lady with the words: "hello, my love," to which she replied: "happy birthday," since the US president had celebrated his birthday a few days earlier.

The brief meeting between them came after Trump's mocking comments about Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron's marriage came at a time when tensions between the two world leaders have been rising. Speaking at a private event in April, where he criticized France for its lack of support for the United States over Iran, Trump accused Brigitte Macron of being "extremely rude" to Emmanuel Macron.

"I called Macron of France, whose wife is treating him very badly. He's still recovering from a blow to the right jaw," Trump said, apparently referring to a viral video from last year in which Brigitte appeared to forcefully push Emmanuel Macron's face as they were getting off the French presidential plane.
Later, Emmanuel Macron reacted to these comments, stating that Trump's words were "not elegant and did not rise to the occasion."
