Storm Ciaran has brought Italy to its knees, as the central and northern regions are most affected by bad weather.
The situation in Tuscany is more critical, where five people have lost their lives and four others are missing.

The head of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, announced the regional emergency describing the situation as very serious indeed.

"I spoke with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, they are taking measures to declare a state of national disaster in the Council of Ministers," he clarified through social networks. In Prato, a town near Florence where two elderly people died, Mayor Marco Biffoni said the damage caused by the storm was "shocking".
"It feels like someone punched you in the stomach. It makes you cry when you see this destruction", he said.
Meloni himself also reacted to the serious situation.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she is following with concern the evolution of the catastrophic events that have hit Tuscany in particular and expresses her deepest condolences to the victims, her staff and the entire Government.

Another casualty was claimed by the flooding of a nursing home in Rosignano, near the port city of Livorno, where winds of up to 120 km/h were recorded. Among the missing is also a firefighter who was off duty, but was helping his father to install sandbags, it seems that the water took him with him.
Schools are closed in Tuscany, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto. The governor of the region, Luca Zaia, warned residents not to travel. Milan and surrounding areas in the Lombardy region were hit by severe storms earlier this week, causing extensive damage there, as well as a dangerous rise in the water level of Lake Como.
This, at a time when the consequences of the May floods in Emilia-Romagna, where 14 people died and thousands were left homeless, have not yet been forgotten.
