The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has denied the French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the sending of troops to Ukraine.
He told The Associated Press that the military alliance has no plans to take such a step.
"NATO allies are providing unprecedented support to Ukraine. We've been doing this since 2014 and we've grown after the large-scale invasion. But there are no plans for NATO combat troops on the ground in Ukraine," Stoltenberg said.
Yesterday, senior officials from 20 countries of the world discussed options to increase aid to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, said that he is considering whether to reach an agreement to send troops to Ukraine to help it cope with the Russian invasion.
He said his government was not planning to propose sending Slovak troops, but gave no details on which countries might consider such arrangements, or what the troops would do in Ukraine.
We recall that the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said yesterday that he refused to rule out sending ground troops to Ukraine, although he emphasized that there was no consensus on this step.
