Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message of condolence on Telegram for the death of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, remembering him as a dear and true friend.
" I sincerely admired his wisdom and ability to make far-sighted decisions" , reads the text of the message released by the Kremlin.
Berlusconi died at San Raffaele hospital in Milan. The news was confirmed in a few minutes and is already going around the world, even foreign newspapers have put the event on the front page.
A year ago, Berlusconi reestablished contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that the Russian leader had given him 20 bottles of vodka for his birthday, accompanied by a "sweet" letter.
Berlusconi announced all this during the meeting of the Forza Italia assembly to elect the leader of the group.
"Russian ministers have already said on several occasions that we are at war with them because we are providing arms and funding to Ukraine. I personally can't give my opinion because if the press is told it will be a disaster, but I am very, very, very worried. I have restored relations with President Putin, a little bit. Putin sent me 20 bottles of vodka and a very sweet letter for my birthday. I responded with a bottle of Lambrusco and an equally sweet letter. I met him as a peaceful and reasonable person," said Berlusconi.
