NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has called on Ankara on Sunday to change its opposing approach to Sweden's membership in the North Atlantic alliance. According to him, Stockholm has addressed Turkey's security concerns.
" Sweden has taken concrete steps to avoid Turkey's concerns. Sweden has fulfilled all obligations ", Stoltenberg told reporters after the meeting with Erdogan.
The head of NATO participated on Saturday in the inauguration of Erdogan, who has also started a five-year presidential term.
Turkey, a member of NATO, is blocking Sweden's membership in the alliance. It and Hungary are the only member states that have not ratified Sweden's application. Finland, with which Sweden has applied for membership, joined the alliance in April.
Erdogan has accused Sweden of turning into a haven for "terrorists", especially for members of the Kurdistan People's Party (PKK). This group is on the blacklist of Turkey and its western allies./ REL
