Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said the country is on full military alert and is prepared for any scenario, while it remains unclear whether Tehran will participate in the next round of negotiations expected to take place in Islamabad. The news was published by the Iranian state news agency IRNA.
Mohajerani stressed that Iran has two possible approaches: war and diplomacy. She underlined that the country does not aim for an escalation of the conflict, but warned that any new attack will receive a stronger response than before.
" We do not want to be attacked again, but if this happens, our response will be harsher," she declared, adding that the defense forces are on "full alert" and "on their feet ," she said.
At the same time, she stressed that the Iranian negotiating team will not make any compromise, even minimal, when it comes to the country's national interests.
The statements come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Most recently, the Iranian military responded to an incident in the Gulf of Oman, where a US warship opened fire on an Iranian-flagged cargo ship. According to Washington, the ship was trying to evade a US-imposed naval blockade.
On the other hand, Iranian military authorities described this action as "armed piracy" and a violation of the ceasefire, warning of countermeasures.
