Pope Leo XIV has spoken again about the war situation in Ukraine, focusing on the impasse in negotiations.
After the Holy Angelus, he made an appeal asking for prayers for those who are suffering, such as the Ukrainian population "exposed to the winter cold."
According to foreign media, he stated that conflicts and hostilities only cause consequences and that innocent civilians pay the greatest damages.
"Even in these days, Ukraine is being hit by continuous attacks that are leaving entire populations exposed to the winter cold. I am following with sorrow what is happening, I am close to them and I pray for those who are suffering. The continuation of hostilities, with increasingly serious consequences for civilians, widens the divide between peoples and distances a just and lasting peace. I invite everyone to further intensify their efforts to end this war. Even in recent days, Ukraine has been hit by continuous attacks that are leaving citizens exposed to the cold. I am following with sorrow what is happening, I am close to them and I pray for those who are suffering," said Pope Leo XIV.
