Tuesday for Donald Trump was between winning in Iowa and then heading to New York to face his defamation trial with writer Jean Carroll. It's a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit.
Carroll claimed that Trump raped her in a store in the mid-1990s, and he later denied her claim. The writer is already seeking more than $10 million in damages for statements Trump made during his presidency.
Trump was found liable in a separate trial last year for sexually assaulting Carroll. But the former president has denied all charges and has appealed the jury's verdict and all verdicts against him.
He is splitting his time between the campaign and the courtroom, as a jury on Tuesday decides how much money Carroll should pay in damages for his 2019 defamatory statements related to her sexual assault allegations .
Trump's lawyer, Alina Habba, argued that Carroll's reputation was not harmed by Trump and that her career has progressed since she came forward with the sexual assault allegations.
