It is the summer of judicial investigations and institutional strategies. Sicily, Calabria, Marche and Lombardy are the regions shaken by judicial earthquakes that are shaking the leadership of the parties to which those under investigation belong.
Investigations against regional governors or governors, councilors and mayors are destined to inevitably move the players on the chessboard of political decisions.
Calabria
The most striking example? Roberto Occhiuto, the president of Forza Italia in the “Toe of the Boot”, who on Thursday, July 31, completely unexpectedly posted a video on his social networks, announcing his resignation, but also a re-run. “I am resigning, but I will run again”, the message of the president to the Calabrian, who is under investigation, along with his loyalists, for conspiracy to commit corruption.
The prosecutors of the Catanzaro office, led by Salvatore Curcio, specifically accuse Occhiuto of having derived "benefits" from the transfer of financial resources that Paolo Posteraro made to "joint companies".
The charges include "money", but also "the exclusive use of three cars for himself and his family, the payment of fines for traffic violations and the refilling of multi-use cards used for fuel". And at the heart of the investigation, which is expected to expand after recent and new searches carried out by finance officers in the offices of the Regional Citadel, is also the shadow of unclear appointments. Together with a system of power that is said to be eroding important sectors of the region, mainly healthcare, and has also made magistrates turn their attention to the former president's closest associates.
"The administrative mechanism is blocked, no one takes responsibility for signing anything anymore", was the official justification given via Instagram by the Forza Italia member, who was questioned by investigators just a week ago and said he was "calm". Could this really be the case? Is the reason given the real one? Upon closer examination, Occhiuto's "withdrawal" seems to be part of a long-awaited strategy agreed upon by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Forza Italia secretary Antonio Tajani, who is today (Friday, August 1) in Reggio Calabria for the Forza Italia general assembly, and Lega leader Matteo Salvini.

Last but not least, Milan: the city "ruined", write the Milanese magistrates handling the major investigation into urban planning, by a "widespread system of corruption".
Among the 74 people under investigation in this procedure, which on Thursday 31 July prompted the investigating judge Mattia Fiorentini to confirm six arrests, is the mayor Beppe Sala, accused of forgery and, before the judge's decision, also of unjust incitement (this latter charge was dropped).
