Pope Leo XIV has issued a powerful message for peace, calling on world leaders and ordinary people to stop wars and unite to challenge the divisions that threaten the existence of humanity.
In a video message broadcast during a sports and television charity event, the Holy Father warned that the world is at a critical moment, stressing that "humanity is in danger."
"It is still possible to meet, even in a time of divisions, bombs and wars. We must create opportunities to do so. To challenge divisions and recognize that this is the greatest challenge," declared Pope Leo XIV, underlining the importance of dialogue and cooperation to build a future without violence.
He emphasized the power of “fight” and “heart,” describing these as two key words that must be combined to bring about change. The message was delivered at a charity event that raises funds for humanitarian causes, such as supporting healthcare and life, in stark contrast to the destruction and death that conflicts bring.
"It's beautiful that this is happening at an event that raises funds for life, for care, not for destruction and death. Our humanity is at risk ," the Pope said.
This message comes at a time when the world is facing numerous conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East and humanitarian crises in countries such as Afghanistan and Yemen. Pope Leo XIV, who has made constant calls for peace since taking office.
