One of the bridges connecting Crimea with the rest of Ukraine was hit overnight. This fact was announced by the pro-Russian leader of the annexed peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov, who announced on Telegram that there were no casualties.
"The Chongar bridge was hit during the night. There were no casualties. The bomb squad is currently conducting an examination to assess the type of ammunition used. The authorities have started to inspect the road", writes Aksyonov, media reports.
The Russian authorities in Crimea and Kherson have denounced that Ukraine is hiding behind the event, as it is suspected that the attack was carried out with British long-range Storm Shadow missiles.
Kherson's Russian-installed governor, Vladimir Saldo, said Ukrainian strikes had hit the bridge near Chongar.
The attack came as Ukraine is waging a counteroffensive to retake territory seized by Russian forces.
Crimea has been regularly targeted by attacks, mostly using drones, in recent months.
