The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran has published the first report on the crash of the helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisit.

"No traces of bullets were found in the helicopter of the late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, which crashed earlier this week," said a statement by the IRIB TV channel.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced that it is publishing the preliminary findings of the investigation into the fatal accident that took the life of the president, while emphasizing that "it can be said with certainty that there were no bullets".

The report also says that the remains of the helicopter were found using Iranian drones, while rejecting Ankara's claim that the Turkish drone Akinci found the remains.

Raishi's coffin was flown to Mashhad in northeastern Iran after his funeral, which was held in the eastern city of Birzad, where thousands of people paid their last respects.

The 63-year-old Raisi was widely seen as a candidate to succeed 85-year-old Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Mohammad Mohber, who was first vice president, took over as interim president until the June 28 election.

Eight passengers and crew members died after the helicopter crashed in a mountainous area near the border with Azerbaijan.
