The UN approved the resolution on Srebrenica, Vucic disappointed: North

Serbian President Aleksander Vucic says he found it hard to bear the fact that North Macedonia voted for the United Nations resolution to declare July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide.

Vučić mentioned Greece's abstention from the Resolution, saying that it turned out that Athens has more attitude than Skopje. The Serbian president has stated that the Macedonian attitude has hit him hard.

"North Macedonia hit me hard. I have invested the most in relations with our Macedonian brothers, but this was not right. It turned out that Greece has more backbone than Skopje", said Vucic.

On July 11, 1995, Serbian forces entered Srebrenica, which was under special UN protection, and subsequently killed more than 8,000 Muslims.

Both Serbia and Republika Srpska deny that genocide took place in Srebrenica, even though it has been determined as such by two UN courts.

"The resolution will not contribute to the strengthening of trust, but will open old wounds and bring new divisions in the region and in the United Nations," said Vucic after the vote.

The UN General Assembly approved the resolution on Srebrenica with 84 votes in favor, including Albania. 19 countries were against, while 68 abstained.

July 11 will be a day of remembrance for over 8,000 Muslim men and boys of Bosnia and Herzegovina who were killed 3 decades ago by the Serbs.
