CIA Director John Ratcliffe has described the operation to rescue the missing American pilot as a "race against time," emphasizing the complexity and urgency of the intervention.
In his statements, Ratcliffe stressed that it was essential to find the pilot as quickly as possible, while at the same time avoiding interference by Iranian forces. For this reason, he said, deceptive tactics were used to keep "the enemy misled."
He announced that a deliberate disinformation campaign was carried out to confuse Iranian authorities, who were searching for the pilot.
Ratcliffe added that, in his assessment, the Iranian side emerged "embarrassed" by the outcome of the operation, while reiterating the principle that the United States leaves none of its citizens behind.
His statements reflect the strategic importance of the operation, as well as the use of intelligence methods in a complex military environment.
