United States President Donald Trump, along with his wife Melania Trump, have presided over the traditional Easter egg rolling ceremony at the White House, in a festive atmosphere that this year has also been accompanied by comments on the war in Iran.
As White House journalist Bernd Debusmann Jr. reports, this annual event, first organized in 1878, is usually light-hearted and family-friendly, with staff, guests, and journalists along with their children participating.
This year's edition includes expanded activities for children, such as an Easter egg hunt, educational stations such as "From Chicken to Home," featuring baby birds, as well as card-writing activities for soldiers and experiences related to space exploration.
However, this festive atmosphere contrasts with President Trump's statements on the situation in Iran. He has suggested that Iran is "not that strong" after more than a month of continuous bombing by the United States and Israel.
The president is expected to provide more detailed comments on the conflict during a press conference later in the day, according to the report. In the meantime, he has presented the recent complex search and rescue operation inside Iran as a clear success.
Recent developments show that, despite declarations of achievements on the ground, the conflict in Iran remains complicated and with unclear consequences for American public opinion.
