Three people have been arrested and over five million euros have been confiscated as part of a German police operation against a cell of the so-called "Balkan Cartel" group, the European Police Agency (EUROPOL) announced on December 10.
The amount of money is believed to have been obtained through drug trafficking from Colombia.
The operation involved police officers from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, along with around 500 German police officers, who carried out raids against individuals suspected of transnational drug trafficking and organized crime.
EUROPOL said that authorities in the countries involved in the operation have conducted investigations and have blocked bank accounts and other assets in the countries linked to the suspects, whose names have not been released.
"Serbian citizens BB (1963), BI (1976), MB (1999), MN (1997), SS (1987), RM (2004), DP (1993) and NT (1992) have been arrested on the territory of Spain. They are suspected of being members of a criminal group, through the provision of logistics and equipment for the reception of drugs transported from Colombia, which arrived by ship in Spain, and were then stored and distributed in coordination with many other Spanish criminal groups," the Serbian Interior Ministry announced./REL
