The last hours of the 19-year-old in Kefalonia: Cameras, contradictory evidence

According to Mega's report, the owner claimed that the external camera was damaged and not recording. However, this turns out to be untrue, as a relative of hers and also the 56-year-old's partner had asked her not to hand over the footage to the police.

The case of the death of 19-year-old Mirto in Kefalonia continues to raise serious questions, as new data and evidence shed light on the final hours of her life. At the center of the investigation are allegations about the functioning of cameras in the accommodation, the contradictions between the people involved and the evidence that the authorities are examining.

The accommodation owner's lie and the camera that was claimed not to be working

The owner of the room where the 19-year-old spent her last hours, after her death became known, stated that she had only rented out one room due to renovation works.

According to her, as reported on the "Live News" show, the only available room was the one where Mirto was staying with her 23-year-old boyfriend and where the tragic event occurred.

However, according to the same report, this is not correct, as two other couples were staying in the same accommodation.

In one room was an 18-year-old with a 22-year-old Albanian, whom a 26-year-old former weightlifter had called when he saw that Myrto was not feeling well.

In the next room stood the 18-year-old's father with his partner.

How do the residents of the accommodation relate to each other?

In the first room, on the fateful night, Myrto and her 23-year-old boyfriend stayed. On the ground floor, a 56-year-old man lived with his partner. This 56-year-old is the father of the 18-year-old who stayed in the room next to Mirto's. The 18-year-old was with the 22-year-old Albanian that night. The latter knew the 26-year-old former weightlifter and, according to the 18-year-old's circle, knew that he was in the room next to the 23-year-old and Mirto.

The hotel owner's lie

The hotel where the incident occurred had cameras both inside and outside. The footage from inside has been made public, but not from outside.

According to Mega's report, the owner claimed that the external camera was damaged and not recording. However, this turns out to be untrue, as a relative of hers and also the 56-year-old's partner had asked her not to hand over the footage to the police.

"He shouted at Myrtos, 'Are you alive? Are you alive?'": What the 18-year-old declares from the next room

The 18-year-old woman standing near the room where the tragedy occurred was the one who informed the 22-year-old that his friend, the 26-year-old former weightlifter, was there.

According to her circle, the 22-year-old, accused of Mirto's death, had been in the same accommodation the day before.

On the fateful night, he had gone out for a drink and had agreed with the 18-year-old to meet him later in her room. Before he arrived, she heard the 26-year-old's voice from the next room and recognized him.

She immediately called the 22-year-old to inform him. He later told her that he already knew his friend was there.

At one point, while they were together in the room, they heard voices from Mirto's room. The 22-year-old asked the 18-year-old not to go out.

He came out and later told her on the phone that, when he entered the room, he saw Mirto lying on the ground and started to cool him down while shouting "Are you alive? Are you alive?".

According to him, he then took her jacket and, together with the 26-year-old, took her out into the street to be picked up by an ambulance.

The first acquaintance and the last video call that was suddenly cut off

Following the decision to detain the three young accused, authorities are continuing their investigation. A 66-year-old man, who had sent them to Mirto that night, testified twice.

He stated that he had given a four-hour testimony and handed over the phone. According to him, the first contact with Myrto was through a group video call, where she introduced herself as a friend.

Then there were the usual text messages.

On the night of the incident, at 11:38 PM, Mirto called him via video, dressed normally and sitting outside, telling him that he had left home after a conflict and had no money.

He suggested she find a safe place and asked for an IBAN to send him money. She initially refused, but then sent him a number for a transfer through IRIS. He also suggested that she go to Preveza or stay at an apartment of his in Athens.

At 4:02 a.m., she called him again from a room, telling him she had found a place to stay. During the conversation, he heard a door slam and a voice, and the call suddenly ended. That was the last time he saw her.

The family lawyer's reaction

The family's lawyer, Panagis Drakulogonas, reacted sharply, questioning the 66-year-old's behavior and emphasizing that in such a situation, the girl's family should have been contacted.

He stressed that the authorities will uncover the truth and that the family has faith in justice.

Suspicions of illegal activity

The lawyer stated that there may be other charges and mentioned the possibility of a network of illegal activities that violate the sexual integrity, especially of young people.

He added that investigations will bring to light all the circumstances and, if anyone is responsible, justice will be served for Mirto.
