Shocking footage has been captured on camera showing an off-duty NYPD officer opening fire on two suspects who were attempting to steal a car. The officer has been suspended from duty after the serious incident.

The chilling scene unfolded shortly after 9 p.m. Monday in the Bronx, when the police officer got into his SUV and chased after men he believed were trying to steal his car. The officer is seen approaching and opening fire without warning.

According to reports, one of the injured, a 30-year-old man, was hit in the head and was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
