Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has reacted for the second time since his election. This time he reacted to the assassination of Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who was targeted by an Israeli airstrike.
"He was a wise, intelligent and dedicated man, with extensive experience in various fields. Larijani's nearly 50 years of work at various levels of the Islamic system contributed to making him a prominent figure," Khamenei said in a written statement.
He emphasized that the assassination of Ali Larijani will be paid for by those who ordered it and those who executed this order.
"There is no doubt that his assassination shows his importance and the hatred that the enemies of Islam had towards him. The enemies of Islam should know that shedding this blood at the roots of the Islamic system only strengthens it. Of course, every drop of blood will have a price, which the criminal killers of the martyrs will pay sooner or later ," the new Supreme Leader added.
