Iran crisis at center of G7 summit, world leaders gather for discussions
Tensions in the Middle East and the escalation of the conflict with Iran have dominated discussions at the G7 summit, where leaders of the most industrialized countries and representatives of the European Union held meetings on the situation in the region.
In the session titled "Overcoming Crises," the G7 and EU leaders were joined by the president of Egypt, the emir of Qatar, and the president of the United Arab Emirates, countries that have been directly or indirectly involved in recent developments in the Middle East.
Before the start of the discussions, US President Donald Trump was seen in talks with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, with whom he has previously had disagreements regarding the approach to the conflict with Iran.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and European Council President Antonio Costa also attended the meetings.

Footage released from the summit shows the leaders exchanging informal chats before the official session begins. According to US media, the initial discussions between them touched on lighter topics, such as the World Cup and the UFC sports events that Trump has promoted at the White House.
However, the main focus of the meeting remained the crisis in the Middle East, following attacks and counterattacks that have increased tensions between Iran, the US and their allies in the region.
