During his visit to Rome's Sapienza University, the Pope called on students not to give up in the face of unlimited competition and to believe in the future.
Pope Leo XIV visited today the Sapienza University of Rome, which has over 113,000 students. During his speech, the Holy Father emphasized the connection between scientific research and faith.
"Whoever seeks, whoever studies, ultimately seeks God. He will meet Him in the beauty of creation, in infinite forms. God wanted to leave His mark on who we are, as His children, created in His image and thanks to His creation," declared Pope Leo.
At the university, the Pope was welcomed by thousands of students, professors and members of the administrative staff. In his speech, he praised the high international rankings of many of Sapienza's faculties, as well as the institution's social commitment in supporting people with disabilities, prisoners and refugees who have arrived in Italy from war zones.

The Pope also recalled with pleasure the agreement recently signed between the diocese of Rome and the Sapienza University for the creation of a humanitarian corridor, which will enable young people from the Gaza Strip to study in Rome.
"Even in a world that suffers and is characterized by great injustices, you must know that the future is not written and no one can take it away from you," the Pope told the young people present.
In conclusion, the Holy Father urged students not to fall prey to the logic of unlimited competition, which, according to him, can lead to isolation and anxiety. He reiterated the message that “we are created by desires, not by algorithms.”
