The VMRO party has a deep victory in the parliamentary and presidential

The VMRO-DPMNE party has secured a deep victory in the double elections in North Macedonia that were held on May 8, the parliamentary ones and the run-off for the country's president.

The party VMRO-DPMNE has started the celebration, while with 95 percent of the votes counted, this party has won 59 seats out of 120 in total. 61 seats are needed for the formation of the government, while negotiations with the Albanian coalition 'VLEN' for the formation of the government are expected to begin.

Meanwhile, the VMRO candidate for president, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, received 520,000 votes against the 234,000 votes received by the social-democratic candidate Stevo Pendarovski, who is also the current president. The latter congratulated Siljanovska-Davkova on the victory, while criticizing, as he said, "those who prevented thousands of citizens from receiving ballots to vote in the presidential runoff", likely alluding to the Democratic Union for Integration.

"My concept for a multi-ethnic Macedonia, fully integrated in the Euro-Atlantic structures, unfortunately did not receive the support of the majority of the citizens. However, I am deeply convinced that only such a Macedonia can be a prosperous and democratic state", said Pendarovski.

The Albanian coalition, DUI and the European Front secured 19 seats in the Assembly, with 133 thousand votes. While the other Albanian coalition VLEN, received 103 thousand votes or 13 seats in the parliament.

If DUI retains the 19 seats in the Assembly until the end of the counting, it will be the second largest party in the country, the first time in the modern history of North Macedonia for an Albanian party.

The coalition led by the Social Democratic League, which is currently in power, is also considered the biggest loser, as according to the data of the State Election Commission it turns out to have received 18 deputies or 144 thousand votes in all six electoral units of North Macedonia .

The head of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickovski, said that he has talked with the leaders of the VLEN coalition, Arben Taravar, Bilall Kasam and Izet Mexhit, and today he will start the meetings for the formation of the new government. Mickovski accused DUI of trying to boycott the presidential runoff, but as he said: "the government fell and the people saved the state".

"Crime, corruption, incompetence, false values, captured state, tenders, nepotism, things that made the state suffer and the people despair, tonight they were defeated," said Mr. Mickovski, threatening that, "100 DUI people and SDSM will answer for their deeds".
VMRO's victory is profound and it is not expected that it will offer the Albanian party a similar number of ministries as DUI and the Alliance for Albanians had in the government with SDSM.

The "Znam" party of the mayor of the Municipality of Kumanovo, Maksim Dimitrievski, has secured 5 seats in the parliament and is highly likely to enter the new government coalition. If this happens, then the expected parliamentary majority will be 77 legislators, very close to the number of two-thirds. The nationalist party "E Majta" won 6 seats in the parliament, which is also considered a success for it, considering that in the current mandate there are only two legislators.

According to the State Election Commission, the turnout in the parliamentary elections was 53.15 percent, while the citizens voted for 17 parties and coalitions competing for deputies of the new Parliament. The law enforcement agencies announced small incidents in several municipalities such as hanging banners and distributing leaflets or agitation in Tetovo, Skopje, Kumanovo and some other settlements.
