The UK Ministry of Defense has revealed in its latest update on the war in Ukraine that Russia is "exploiting foreign nationals" as part of its recruitment drive.
Since June, Russia has been appealing to citizens from neighboring countries with recruitment ads for people to fight in Ukraine. Online ads have been spotted in Armenia and Kazakhstan.
It is also said that Uzbek immigrant builders in Mariupol had their passports confiscated upon arrival and were forced to join the Russian army.
According to the data, there are at least six million migrants from Central Asia in Russia "whom the Kremlin is likely to see as potential recruits".
