In addition to the USA, France has also come to the defense of Ukraine regarding the terrorist attack in Moscow.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that it would be cynical and counterproductive for Russia and its citizens to try to blame Ukraine for the terrorist attack in Crocus City in Moscow.
"We must be careful of any instrumentalization of the attack ," Macron said in comments to reporters after his arrival in the French territory of French Guiana.
Macron expressed his "solidarity" with the Russian people after the "Islamic terrorist attack" in Moscow, adding that France had offered its assistance to Moscow with intelligence about the attack.
He noted that ISIS, also known as the Islamic State group, claimed responsibility for the attack and that France and its key partners believed it was an Islamic State entity that planned and carried out the attack. However, he did not specify which ISIS entity France believes carried it out.
Macron said the same entity had attempted several attacks on French soil in recent months, which contributed to the French government's decision to raise the country's terror threat level on Sunday.
We recall that after the attack, Putin said that the "perpetrators" had headed to the border with Ukraine before being caught. His comments came after ISIS had already claimed responsibility. Ukraine strongly denied any involvement.
