A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5 shook Greece on Sunday around 10:40 local time. The earthquake occurred about 18 kilometers southeast of Palaiochora in the Chania region.

The Seismological Center of Greece has announced that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 10 kilometers, while it is known that it was also felt in Palaichora, Suga and Sfakia. According to what the Greek media write, there were no reports of injuries.

Earlier on Sunday, another earthquake was recorded in the same area, with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale. Meanwhile, the authorities have called on citizens to stay away from dangerous areas, such as canyons or rocks.
