
The meeting between the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has ended. According to the Greek media, this meeting lasted for 1 hour and 20 minutes, where issues such as the crisis in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine and Greece's request to buy F-35 aircraft were discussed.
Mitsotakis received Blinken at his residence in Crete, where he showed him the bay of Souda and the American base, while according to Greek media reports, the prime minister treated him to brandy and gave him socks.

"Greece-US bilateral relations are at the best point they have ever been" , Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a brief statement before the cameras, during his meeting with the US Secretary of State.
Mitsotakis welcomed Anthony Blinken to his home in Chania, stressing that it was a real pleasure to welcome the American official in Souda Bay, and that the island of Crete best symbolizes the partnership between the two countries.

"In these difficult and challenging times for the region, it is extremely important that we stand side by side, not only to work to further strengthen our relationship, but also to act as allies and ensure peace and stability . Again, it is a real pleasure to welcome you here" , said Mitsotakis.
While Blinken said that the relations between Greece and the USA have never been stronger than now.
"I completely agree with what you said about bilateral relations. In the 30 years that I've been doing this job, I don't remember any other period when the friendship and relations between the USA and Greece are stronger", said Blinken.
In closing, Blinken emphasized that there are many issues they will discuss, but the cooperation and alliance of Greece means a lot to the United States.

After the private meeting between Mitsotakis and Blinken, a working meeting followed, attended by the Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, Deputy the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Papadopoulou, the US Ambassador in Athens, George Tsounis and the Deputy. Blinken's visit to Greece took place as part of his tour of Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean countries, amid fears of a prolongation of the war in Gaza.
