An American official has announced that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to the Middle East in the coming days, his fifth in the region since October 7.
Earlier this month, Blinken flew to the region, including Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Israel, on a mission to ensure that the Israel-Hamas war does not spill over into a regional conflict.
But since his last trip, attacks by Yemen's Houthi fighters, both on Israel and on merchant shipping in the Red Sea, have prompted British and American forces to launch strikes in Yemen.
And on Sunday, three US soldiers were killed in an attack in Jordan, with Joe Biden vowing revenge and Iran promising a decisive response to any attack.
This is suspected to be the reason for Blinken's visit to the Region. An attempt to calm down the situation and not to further aggravate the already very tense situation.
