The Turkish opposition MP dies, two days after a sudden heart attack he suffered while speaking in parliament about Israel and his ties to Erdogan's party.

53-year-old Hasan Bitmez, deputy of the Islamist party Saadet Partisi or the Party of Happiness, died in Ankara hospital, announced the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca.

Bitmez suddenly lost consciousness in the floor of the Assembly after speaking for about 20 minutes on Tuesday. He was helped by other MPs when he lost consciousness before being taken to hospital in a "very serious" condition.

In his speech, which was abruptly cut short by a heart attack, he blamed Israel for the loss of life in Palestine and held a banner that read: "Murdering Israel / Its collaborator, the AKP," referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party.
