European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday that she welcomes US President Donald Trump's peace proposal to end the war in Gaza, which has been going on for almost two years.
"I welcome President @realDonaldTrump's commitment to ending the war in Gaza. I encourage all parties to seize this opportunity now. The EU stands ready to contribute," he wrote on X.
"The acts of hostilities must stop, providing immediate humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and immediately releasing all hostages. A two-state solution remains the only possible path towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, where the Israeli and Palestinian people can live side by side, in peace and security, free from violence and terrorism," the President of the European Commission concluded.
