
Agents of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Administration of Spain seized eight tons of cocaine hidden in a container in the port of Algeciras, announced the Ministry of Finance of Spain.
The drugs were hidden inside a metal structure designed to avoid scanner detection, which was fully loaded, prompting customs officers to open the container.
In a statement from the Ministry of Finance, it is said that the drug was smuggled from Suriname, with the plan to sell the cocaine throughout Spain and Portugal.
In the action of the Customs Supervision Service against drug trafficking, three people were arrested, the Ministry added.
