Protests in Israel, Netanyahu 'doesn't let go': We are not

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that Israel will continue to control the strategic border between Gaza and Egypt.

Known as the Philadelphia Corridor, the border has been a point of contention in the cease-fire talks, through which Hamas is demanding Israel's full withdrawal from Gaza.

Netanyahu stresses that control of the corridor is vital to ensure that Hamas does not rearm through the tunnels.

"I will declare the end of the war in Gaza when Hamas no longer rules there. We are removing them. To achieve this, a military victory is needed, but also a political one to destroy their government", declared Netanyahu.

Several thousand demonstrators filled the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv when the bodies of six hostages were found dead in Gaza. Many blame Netanyahu as three of the hostages were expected to be released in the first phase of a proposed ceasefire in July.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden stepped up pressure on the Israeli prime minister and criticized him for not doing enough. However, he remains convinced that the parties are close to reaching an agreement.
