Vladimir Putin will be in Turkey in the coming days to meet with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, writes the Turkish press today.
This will be the first time since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war that the Russian president will visit a NATO member country.
"After the end of the wheat deal, grain prices increased by 15%. After the end of safe trade through the Black Sea Corridor, Ukraine has put alternative grain transportation routes on the agenda. However, considering security and cost, none of these options can replace the Black Sea Corridor. Rising prices have a negative impact on poor countries, most of which are in Africa," says a Milliyet report.
On August 2, Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed wheat with Vladimir Putin and agreed on the Russian's visit to Turkey. Afterwards, President Erdoğan expressed the hope that the visit will take place in August.
The date and place of the planned talks between the presidents of Turkey and Russia are still under discussion, the Turkish side is counting on August, a source from the Turkish leader's administration later told RIA Novosti.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of Ukraine reported on August 14 that 33 fierce battles took place in the Kupiansk sector in the eastern Kharkiv region.
In Donetsk, Russian forces tried to regain lost ground in the Bahmut area but were repulsed, the General Staff said in the daily report, adding that Ukrainian air defense shot down a Russian military helicopter over Bahmut.
In the south, Russian forces made unsuccessful counterattack attempts in the Robotine sector of Zaporizhia, the Russian military said, a day after reports that Ukrainian troops had achieved "partial success" around Robotine.
A day ago, 7 civilians were killed by Russian shelling in the south of Ukraine. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on the Telegram social network that 20 others were injured, while several homes were destroyed. Vadim Rogov, a Russian-appointed official in the occupied part of Ukraine's Zaporizhia region, said Ukrainian forces had penetrated Russian lines and "gained ground" in the southwestern part of Donetsk region.
