Serbia has called Kenya's recognition of Kosovo a "hostile act." Vučić has also warned that he will take "all necessary diplomatic measures" against the act.
"Kenya's action to recognize the state of Kosovo constitutes a serious violation of international law and a direct violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244," the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a reaction.
Serbia claims that with this action, Kenya has also violated the UN Charter. This recognition, according to official Belgrade, also "undermines efforts for constructive dialogue, regional stability and respect for the international legal order."
Regarding the fact that Kenya has referred to the decision of the International Court of Justice on the issue of Kosovo's independence, Serbia has described it as "unfounded." In response, it was also stated that Kenya's decision will affect the country's relations with Serbia.
Serbia claims that in the last eight years "28 states have withdrawn or suspended recognition of Kosovo's independence" while adding that only "two new states have recognized it."
"The clear majority of the international community, law and justice are on Serbia's side. Serbia remains committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity with all diplomatic and legal means at its disposal," the Serbian government's response states.
