The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has supported a Palestinian bid to become a full member of the UN by recognizing it as eligible for membership and recommending to the UN Security Council " to reconsider the case in a favorable manner".
The assembly adopted a resolution on Friday with 143 votes in favor and nine against, including the US and Israel - while 25 countries abstained, including Albania. It does not grant the Palestinians full UN membership, but simply recognizes them as eligible for membership.
