A ballistic missile launched by Iran has hit the Jerusalem area, causing material damage just 400 meters from the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Western Wall, two of the most important religious sites in the region.
Footage released by international media shows a large cloud of smoke rising above the area after the strike. Initial reports indicate that no one was injured in the attack.
Israeli authorities say at least eight ballistic missiles were fired towards Israel on Friday. Two of them were equipped with warheads containing cluster bombs, causing damage to residential areas and minor injuries to several civilians.
In the city of Rehovot, a cluster bomb rocket set fire to the home of an elderly couple. Both, in their 70s, suffered minor injuries.
According to the Israeli military, some of the attacks were neutralized, with interceptions reported in at least 10 different areas.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Ministry of Health reports that 4,099 people are receiving medical treatment for physical injuries and anxiety disorders since the start of the conflict on February 28.
