London expands authorization for American defensive operations against Iranian targets, without being directly involved in the attacks.
The United Kingdom has approved the use of its bases by the United States to carry out operations against Iranian targets related to attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to BBC reporting, the British government had previously allowed the use of the bases for operations aimed at preventing missile attacks by Iran on British interests and lives.
However, after a meeting of ministers, London decided to expand this authorization to include the protection of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
A Downing Street spokesman stated that British bases could be used for "US defensive operations" targeting "capabilities used to attack ships" in this strategic area.
British authorities stressed that the United Kingdom will not be directly involved in the attacks and that its approach to the conflict remains unchanged.
The ministers also underlined the need for an urgent reduction in tensions and for a rapid resolution of the conflict.
