
A military helicopter belonging to the Turkish Army Aviation School crashed near a gas station in the center of Keçiborlu district. The Ministry of National Defense announced that 6 soldiers were martyred in the accident.
It is learned that one of the martyrs in the downed helicopter was the commander of the Isparta ground aviation school, Brigadier General İsa Baydilli.
According to information obtained by Hürriyet from military sources; The accident occurred due to propeller contact between two helicopters of the same type. After contact, the helicopter carrying Brigadier General İsa Baydilli could not maintain altitude and crashed, while the other helicopter managed to land safely.
Speaking to Hürriyet, Isparta Mayor Şükrü Başdeğirmen said: “A very unfortunate accident happened. Unfortunately, we have 6 martyrs. We reached the bodies. The safe landing of the other helicopter eased our pain a little.
An eyewitness to the helicopter crash said: “Two helicopters collided in the air. We were coming down the road when they crashed, one started burning in the air. the other went forward and sat down."
The helicopter crashed on the ground between the Army Aviation School and the Isparta-Afyonkarahisar highway. It was found that the downed helicopter was split in two and its parts were scattered 50 meters apart. While the area where the helicopter crashed is cordoned off, security forces are conducting ground searches and scanning. The other helicopter was seen to land safely 400 meters away from the crash site. Security forces stand guard around the helicopter.
