Russia has placed Meta spokesman Andy Stone on its wanted list on undisclosed charges, state news agency TASS reported on Sunday.
According to the agency, the Russian Ministry of the Interior has opened a criminal investigation against Mr. Stone, but has not clarified the details of the investigation or the charges.
Shortly after the Russian attack on Ukraine in February last year, Moscow suspended the operation of both of Meta's main social platforms, Facebook and Instagram.
In March 2022, Russia's Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal investigation into what it called "illegal actions by Meta employees," citing Mr. Stone. According to the committee, Mr. Stone "had removed from the platform a ban on calls for violence against the Russian military," which he said constituted extremist activity.
Meta's press office did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on the matter./ VOA
