In the western city of Lviv, a critical infrastructure building has been hit by a drone strike, the city's mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, said in a Telegram post.
In Odesa in southern Ukraine, debris from a downed drone caused a fire in a high-rise building. In Kharkiv, in the northeast, there were also several explosions after rocket attacks.
It is still unclear if there are any casualties from these attacks.
Sadovyi said Lviv was attacked by more than 10 Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones.
In the Sumi region, in the northeast of Ukraine, as a result of a rocket attack in the city of Konotop, three people were injured and a residential building and a workshop were damaged.
During the night, Kharkiv was attacked with more than 10 rockets. There is still no information about casualties as a result of the Russian attacks in this city. But the governor, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the damage caused by the attacks should be verified.
A second wave of airstrikes followed on Friday morning. Air raid sirens were sounded across Ukraine and residents were instructed to go to shelters.
Kiev and the industrial city, Dnipro, were also targeted by Russian attacks. Explosions have been reported in the two cities, where more than 1 million people live.
With the help of the West, Ukraine is defending itself against the unprovoked invasion launched by Russia over 22 months ago.
