Deputy Prime Minister, Transport Minister and right-wing party leader Matteo Salvini said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be welcome in Italy.
This statement by Salvini comes a day after the Israeli Prime Minister was accused of war crimes in Gaza by the International Criminal Court and an arrest warrant was issued against him.
"I plan to meet with members of the Israeli government soon and if Netanyahu would come to Italy he would be welcome. The war criminals are the others ," said Salvini.
He said it was "disrespectful" to call "the prime minister of one of the few democracies in the Middle East" a war criminal.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited Netanyahu to Prague on Friday, saying he would challenge the ICC verdict. Even the USA did not welcome the decision of the International Criminal Court.
