The UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, and his French counterpart, Jean-Nowl Barrot, have confirmed their countries' commitment to supporting Ukraine and achieving a lasting peace.
This statement came in response to accusations by Vladimir Putin, who claimed that the United Kingdom and the United States have escalated the conflict by allowing Ukraine to use their missiles for attacks inside Russian territory.
In their joint article, Lammy and Barrot pointed out that the real cause of the escalation was the "total and unprovoked war" launched by Russia, calling it the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II. They also accused Putin of "destroying the global architecture" that has been a cornerstone of international peace and security for generations.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called Russia's use of a new medium-range ballistic missile a "dangerous escalation", stressing that it shows how critical and dangerous the current situation is.
Scholz reaffirmed Germany's firm support for Ukraine, but stressed that Berlin will not send Taurus missiles to Ukraine, underscoring the importance of avoiding a direct clash between NATO and Russia.
