Congress expresses concern over military reserves, while the White House is expected to seek additional funding for the conflict

US President Donald Trump's administration used about $5.6 billion worth of ammunition during the first two days of the war against Iran, according to a report submitted to US congressional committees, a source familiar with the matter said.

US lawmakers, who may soon be called upon to approve additional funding for military operations, have expressed concerns that the conflict could deplete the United States' military reserves, at a time when the defense industry is already struggling to meet demand.

President Donald Trump met with executives from seven defense industry companies on Friday as the Pentagon tries to increase production and replenish weapons stockpiles.

So far, the US administration has not published an official estimate of the total cost of the war, which began on February 28 in coordination with Israel.

Members of Congress have requested more information and testimony from administration officials to understand how the conflict could affect US military readiness.

Meanwhile, some senators and congressional aides expect the White House to soon submit a request for additional funding for the war in Iran. According to congressional sources, the administration could ask for about $50 billion, although some lawmakers believe that amount could be lower than the actual cost of the operations.
